Book Project
As I look around and in my work, it is my opinion that American women have lost the intrinsic value of community gatherings, and it is a critical link to the uprising of anxiety, depression and overall dissatisfaction with life. The need for 'social support' is enormous, but largely overlooked and certainly undervalued by both men and women alike.
Overview:
Why Women Gather is designed to introduce new research and insights into gender differences in stress management and social structure strategies. John Grey coined the terms "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus", and opened new dialogue for relationships, without polarizing one or the other.
New studies on women's brain function, social habits and psychological needs have been brimming on the horizon, but not yet integreated in a way that translates to a mass market appeal or application. In my work as a facilitator, I see the powerful desire women have to create meaningful gatherings, and how it's affects ripple back into their daily lives in a way that has not yet been fully recognized.
Many women recognize an inner need to be with other women in some way, whether it be family gatherings, book clubs, women’s groups or social outings. While for many this is an established norm, this book seeks to delve deeper into validating why this need is prevalent for women, revealing new medical and sociological studies demonstrating that it is, in fact a vital element of health, and how to set about creating an environment with others that is more authentic. Women respond very strongly to the idea of having a “tribe” in their lives, and long for it without understanding why.
Why Women Gather also builds on current books in print discussing why women talk and communicate more often, or differently than men - citing various types of scientific and professional writings to stress a woman’s desire to ‘get out with the girls’ is not a reflection of their stress or imbalance, but a fundamental need and one very important to cultivate with greater respect.
Research is presented to establish that both men and women think and function in different ways, and recognizing a woman’s need for feminine support will only enhance her effectiveness in business as well as her one-on-one relationships with her spouse, children and extended family.
SEEKING INTERVIEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do you have a story to tell about how being part of some type of group of other women has changed your life? Have you experienced a unique business setting that was supportive of creating a community environment? If so, I’d love to hear! I am currently seeking interviews with women who have had some positive experience with a group of other women.
